A subject you enjoyed studying this semester

Imagen
Hi everyone,  Today I will talk about the subject of the semester that I liked the most. the subject is called processes and prototypes,  the class is interactive, not just a monologue of the teacher with his assistant, it is something constructive and not linear, that's something I really like about this course, because they do not follow the typical way of doing classes at the university, we have done presentations in pairs on design topics of choice. And at the end of the course we are making a folding from scratch, where we see what information is going to go and finally the design of the folding, we have been taught in this last unit to use some applications such as Ps, Ai and Id.  The topics we have seen are: design methodologies, types of design, examples of prototypes, different types of printing systems, digital printing, its substrates and supports, how to recognize them, and finally things related to editorial design. I like this course because the teachers hav...

Who is a person on your field that you admire?

Imagen
Hi everyone I hope you are all well, today I will tell you about someone I admire and who has developed in my field. As I always say I'm a sucker for favoritism, but in this case I think it's one of the few I admire related to design. This person's name is Dai Liv Fuentes Araya, she studied visual design at the University of Chile, and then she got a diploma in Digital Photography: Aesthetics and Techniques at the Aesthetics Institute of the Catholic University. She teaches at different universities (5) and one of them is where I study. She is dedicated to analog photography where he deals with political issues. Well first I want to put you in context, she was my professor of visual composition 1, I was entering the university for the first time (in pandemic and online), I was afraid that I would do badly in the race, some teachers were not very empathetic, but Dai and her team were wonderful, her way of teaching, her person, how she evaluated, her work, everything. In shor...

How Can Your Major/Career Make the World a Better Place

Imagen
Hi everybody :) Today we are going to talk about how your major can make the world a better place. To begin with we must have the context of design at the time of the second world war (in Germany). Then on another level, design in the United States, specifically on black Thursday (fall of the New York Stock Exchange), at this time design lost its focus for one linked to consumerism, also changed its form of mass production (similar to today, with capitalism and the problems of the industries) design was dedicated to produce more and more focused only on profits. All this without taking into consideration the damage it would produce in the future. Now, how do I see myself in this process? mm, I would like to be part of the change that is emerging with sustainable designs and change the system of mass production (organization, materials, preference in the worker) and also maybe go to the side of ergonomics, in designing for the forgotten ( that's what I call it) .  Finally, in...

A photograph you like

Imagen
Hello everyone, this time I'll tell you about my favorite photo, I must admit that I have many favorite photos and it's hard for me to choose one.  Well this picture is from February 4, 2020, I took this picture, it shows me and my boyfriend, I like it very much because the moment was special, that was our first vacation trip together, he accompanied me to Iquique with my parents, we had a long bus ride (24 hours haha D: a suffering). We arrived that same day and spent the whole day on a beach, as you can see in the picture I sunburned my skin (I have vitiligo so I sunburn very easily), and at sunset we went to the pier, it was a nice moment and the whole atmosphere, for that beautiful sunset, the children, the fishermen, their company, everything.  Although it may seem like a normal selfi, for me it has a great symbolic value.                                           ...

A meal or food you really like

Imagen
Hi everyone I hope you are well, today I will tell you about my taste in food. When I was a child I liked stew a lot, well actually now I would still like it, but I have been a vegetarian for four years, so in all this time I have not eaten this food. Currently my favorite food is gnocchi, I tried it for the first time for my birthday in 2014 at the restaurant la pizza nostra, (I have always loved pasta but I really love this much more). and I fell in love haha. Well I will tell you what this dish consists of, the gnocchi are considered within the pasta but it is really potato dough (ground potato plus a little flour), these you can make them yourself or buy "fresh" (packaged) in supermarkets. to cook them you have to put them in boiling water for 5 minutes, no more than that time or they will not be as good, on the other hand you can accompany them with a tomato sauce with vegetables (I like carrots, onions and mushrooms), and ready to serve. In general I like pasta...

Hi everyone Today we are talking about technology,  I think my favorite piece is my phone(iphone),it   is one of the few technological things that I can call "mine", I use it a lot on a daily basis, as it makes many things easier for me. I use it a lot to listen to music, when I have free time I always try to listen to music to relax and also to concentrate. Among all the functions it has, the ones I use the most apart from listening to music, is to use whatsapp, instagram, pinterest, and my play games Having so many functions makes me always resort to it, but in the long run this ends up being negative, since I waste a lot of time on the phone. Also when I study I get distracted too much, I grab the phone unconsciously. I recommend its use because it facilitates many things, but with a conscious use. Thank you for reading! :)

Blog 2: Why did you choose this career?

Imagen
Hi everyone:) Today I'm going to tal k about why I choose studying Design. I don't have a very good memory, as I didn't remember what I wanted to be when I was a child, I asked my mother and she told me "you wanted to be a veterinarian or teacher"  . In my fourth year I felt obligated to have a career that I wanted to aspire to, but I didn't want to stress anymore (I was stressing about the psu) and I waited for the results to see what decision to make I never took the weight of what I wanted to be because I thought I had more time left, and I only let myself be influenced by what my parents wanted, which was to study engineering or architecture. I decided at that moment that I wanted to study design (my mother is a textile designer so I had an idea of the career) and here I am.  As for my experience, I feel that I have been lucky to find good teachers and the good experiences, but the only demotivating thing is that I lost my first year as a "mechona...
